| Another popular fence style is the picket fence. The top two pictures are French Gothic pickets. The two bottom pictures are Gothic pickets. The difference is the French Gothic has a cut out about 5" down from the top on each side. The gothic is solid board all the way up to the arched top. The pickets below are all clear redwood. You can buy a cheaper fir picket. The fir pickets are ruff cut and not very nice compared to the smooth clear redwood. Also Fir will not last like redwood will. If you want a fence that will standup to fungus and bugs. Your choice should be clear redwood pickets. If you want an inexpensive picket fence. Then fir is the right choice for you.
